Informations
- Bio
- Josefina Marmisolle holds a degree in Geology from the Faculty of Sciences, Universidad de la República (UdelaR), and earned her M.Sc. in Geosciences in 2016 from the Program for the Development of Basic Sciences (PEDECIBA), UdelaR. She also obtained a certificate in Petroleum Policy and Resource Management from PETRAD, Norway, in 2011. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Geosciences at PEDECIBA, UdelaR, focusing on energy transition-related geosciences. Her professional journey began in mineral exploration (2005–2008), where she focused on orogenic gold in Archean to Proterozoic shields across Uruguay. She later contributed to the UNESCO-sponsored Guarani Aquifer System Project (P-SAG) between 2008 and 2009, working on the sustainable development of this critical transboundary water resource. In 2009, she joined the Exploration and Production Geosciences team at ANCAP, where she honed her expertise in hydrocarbon exploration. Her work encompassed basin analysis, petroleum systems, structural analysis, interpretation of geophysical data, field geology, and the oversight of exploratory and stratigraphic wells. Since 2023, she has been part of ANCAP’s Energy Transition team, contributing to innovative energy solutions including the potential of the Natural Hydrogen in Uruguay. Josefina has also collaborated on numerous research projects with UdelaR professors, coleading efforts and publishing scientific and technical papers on basin analysis, natural resources, and the hydrocarbon potential of Uruguay. She has also contributed to book chapters focused on geosciences.
