- Bio
- He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego in 1991. In the same year, he joined the Electrotechnical Laboratory (now the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology: AIST). He has held key positions in the fields of photovoltaics and renewable energy, and has led R&D to extend the penetration of renewable energy. In 2019, he joined NEDO as the head of the Renewable Energy Unit (now Sustainable Energy Unit) at the Technology Strategy Center (now the Technology and Innovation Strategy Center). He was dispatched to ARPA-E for about a month from Jan. 2024 based on the MOU between NEDO and ARPA-E, and built a strong relationship with ARPA-E program directors. He became a fellow on Apr. 1, 2024, and was assigned to be the Program Director for the NEDO geologic hydrogen program on June 1, 2025.
