- Dr Ema Frery is a Principal Research Scientist and Team Leader at CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency. She leads a multidisciplinary research team working on natural hydrogen systems and carbon capture and storage (CCS), integrating laboratory experiments, field investigations and geological modelling to better understand hydrogen generation, migration and accumulation in the subsurface. A structural geologist by training, she developed international expertise on fluid and gas circulation along natural faults through studies of the Colorado Plateau red sandstones and participation in International Ocean Discovery Program expeditions investigating active serpentinite mud volcanoes. Her work combines fundamental geoscience and applied research on natural hydrogen systems and the broader implications of emerging subsurface energy resources. Dr Frery is a member of IEA Hydrogen TCP Task 49, serves on the AGH Advisory Board, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
