- Bio
- Bardhyl Muceku is an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Tirana (Faculty of Geology and Mining, Department of Earth Sciences). His research focuses on fluid-related geological processes, with particular emphasis on natural hydrogen systems and resource potential in ophiolitic environments. His current work investigates natural hydrogen (H₂) in Albanian ophiolites, especially in the Bulqizë massif, through an integrated “source-to-reservoir” approach combining field observations, gas geochemistry, and geophysical methods, including passive seismic imaging. This research aims to better constrain hydrogen generation, migration, and subsurface accumulation processes. This work is conducted in close collaboration with international partners, particularly with ISTerre (Université Grenoble Alpes, CNRS), within a multidisciplinary framework integrating geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. In parallel, he contributes to studies on the structure and tectonic evolution of the Dinaride–Albanide–Hellenide orogenic belt, including crustal architecture, active tectonics, and basin development. He also collaborates with leading international institutions, including the University of Potsdam, Roma Tre University, and ENSEGID Bordeaux INP, contributing to multidisciplinary research at the intersection of geology, geophysics, and energy resources.
