- Mariya Al Toubi is a Chemical and Process Engineer specializing in natural hydrogen, industrial decarbonization, and the energy transition. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Chemical and Process Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University. Her research, Prospecting and Value Chain Simulation for Natural Hydrogen in Sohar, investigates the potential of naturally occurring hydrogen resources and their integration into future low-carbon energy systems. Mariya has worked at the intersection of engineering, policy, and commercial strategy to advance the energy transition across Oman and the GCC. She currently serves as a Sustainability Analyst at SOHAR Port and Freezone, where she leads strategic initiatives to accelerate industrial decarbonization, including the development of a 2 GW renewable energy business case and low-carbon infrastructure projects. She is also seconded to Hydrom, leading a national techno-commercial assessment of green hydrogen deployment in existing industries to support Oman's hydrogen transition roadmap. Prior to joining SOHAR Port and Freezone, Mariya worked at the Oman Net Zero Center and has collaborated with leading international organizations, including the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the International Energy Agency (IEA), and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), on projects supporting hydrogen, industrial decarbonization, and sustainable energy development.
